Swing Shift 2026 - Lexington/Berea KY - Contra Dance Weekend

Featuring Hot Coffee Breakdown and caller Katie Zanders

The first portion of the Contra Swing Shift dance weekend, on Friday in Lexington, will be open, and dance events will proceed as scheduled.
Due to expected severe weather conditions, the remaining portion of the weekend, originally scheduled to be held on Saturday in Berea, has been canceled.
Members of the Berea dance community have informed us that they are planning to hold several informal dance events on Saturday, including an English dance starting at 9:30 am at the Acton Folk Center at 212 West Jefferson Street, a Contra Dance starting at noon and also at the Acton Folk Center, and additional dancing afterward at the home of the Carlbergs at 128 North Broadway Street.

Swing Shift is a Friday/Saturday contra dance weekend in Lexington and Berea Kentucky. Swing Shift 2026 is January 23-24, 2026, featuring Hot Coffee Breakdown and caller Katie Zanders.

Contra dance roles will be called "gents" and "ladies".

There is no preregistration for Swing Shift. Housing is on your own.

Masks and vaccinations are not required. Frequent hand washing is encouraged. Please stay home if you are sick.
